#26

Last Monday and Tuesday were my last days in my dear Elche. So I was IN a trio with the other Hermanas. I had my last district meeting with the best district ever! I will miss them so much! We had some testimonies and it was beautiful. And then I got on a bus Wednesday morning to go to Almeria! I met my cute comp on Wednesday. She is so sweet. And we just got right to work. We have contacted a whole bunch of people. Surprisingly a lot of them spoke English so that's always cool.

There is this beach here that has 26 cats on it (I counted) it was disgusting. The beach here is sooo beautiful. We went to church on Sunday and this ward is SO BIG. There are so many people I love it! There are a ton of Ecuadorian so that's cool. We called up this old investigator and asked him if he wanted to come to church and he said yeah so he came! It was incredible. And then another family of three just randomly came and they live in our area so I love that! Then after we went to lunch with a bunch of single women and they were so fun and it was just good! We are going to have a good week ahead of us! Some fotos

Helloooooo!!

This morning I dropped my toothbrush in the toilet. But no worries, I thought, because today is p day and I can just go to Merca D and buy a new one.  It then I realized I am in Spain where there are about 600 holidays and all the stores are closed and today just happens to be a Valencian holiday. No toothbrush for me. But then Hermana Lake came in clutch and gave me one she bought from a chino. Everything is right in the world again.

Okay now that that's off my chest we can get started.

This week was.... Oh what a week. I will just say this. We planned some SUPREME lessons this week. We were pumped we were gonna get things done. So then we set about 17 citas,.. and all but 3 failed us. Hahahaha. Tragic. It happens. So we walked and walked and sang as we walked and contacted as we walked... and it was... rough. But still feeling good! This weekend just got turned around for us.

Bako came to the rescue again. We invited him to 5 citas this week because he is a ward missionary, loves to help and he can translate for the other Africans who speak Bambara. ( I know 4 words now 😎) he came to every single one! And all of them failed! But he still came. And so finally at the end of the week, him and Sega invited us to come eat some African food that they made for us. At the end they were talking to us and Bako basically said like hey I know you guys have had kinda a rough week, but I appreciate that you guys are still working so hard and that you keep going. He is a recent convert and he just thanked us for the hard work that We do that changed his life. He was a JW before and his conversion story is FANTASTIC. Earlier in the week we were telling him that we needed more copies of The Book of Mormon because we were handing them all out and then he brought that up, he was like when you guys told me that it made me so happy! It was just so nice; he was giving us so much encouragement and it was just awesome and made us feel good! And then! Him and Sega presented us with AFRICAN DRESSES. made in Africa coming straight from Africa. They said they'd like to help us more but they work all day long and they feel bad so they arranged for their friend back home to make us African dresses, it was the sweetest thing. You could tell they were straight from Africa because they smelled so... African. Pictures to come.

Also this week we went into this old woman's house and she proceeded to close the door AND LOCK IT. And took the keys. And then we walked into the living room, and she told us she lived alone, and there was a tea party set up with coordinating colored hats on colored stuffed animals.. and I know what you're thinking, you probably think that's cute. NO. It was creepy. And then my eyes turned to the corner of the room where there was a chair with Winnie the pooh TIED. STRAPPED TO THE CHAIR. WITH A CYNICAL GRIN ON HIS FACE. WEARING A TEA PARTY HAT.  IT WAS HORRIFYING. This woman was Looney. We got out of their fast, I kid you not I was scared for my safety.

But thus, here I am. Alive to write this letter. We are all well. And hopefully old woman Rosario is too.

Yesterday was a beautiful Sunday! It was fast and testimony meeting and the members had all just come back from a trip to the temple, so they were all on a spiritual high and shared it with all of us. There were some beautiful testimonies. We got to go to the Primary and help them with some of the songs they don't know and it was crazy but it was super fun! And then a member invited us to go visit their niece who is in the hospital and it was nice to be able to share a message and just do some service. This poor girl our age had kidney stones and she was in so much pain. She was also suffering from depression and other things as well. We shared Alma 7: 11-12 with her. It was so powerful to testify to her That Christ knows exactly how she feels. That nobody else knows exactly how she feels except Him. We testified that Christ loves her and has suffered to take this pain away and that she can feel peace from this. While I testified to her of this, I realized that I was also kind of reminding myself of this wonderful truth we have. That Christ suffered to know how to succor His people. A lot of the time on my mission, I don't even know how I feel! Sometimes I feel completely happy, sometimes sad, sometimes just numb, it's kinda hard to not know what I feel, but I realized that Christ knows me perfectly and knows exactly what I feel. I feel so much hope and comfort from that. It was a loving experience.

Happpyyy October 🍂😍

I need a dream interpreter. I've had some crazy dreams this week and surely they mean something.

This week has been sooo long!
Some things I did this week
• intercambios in Alacant! Alicente is so pretty and spending time with the SHE'S is always a fab time

• taught Rafael! ( man, Spaniard, very intelligent.) He was a referral from the other Hermana's in Elche and they called us Wednesday afternoon saying that they set up a cita for that night for us! So we went. We taught him lesson one in a way that we have seldom done before. I felt we were so guided by the spirit. Because Rafael is so smart and loves to learn, we thought it was going to be a bit hard to teach him, just because some people like that only want to learn about the history of the church and what not. But for his lesson we focused SO HARD on the priesthood and on the feeling. The feeling is something Elder Holland talked about a couple weeks ago with us, it's the feeling of the spirit that will convert people so we need to make sure that they feel something. So we focused SO MUCH on the feeling and on the spirit. You could tell he slowly accepted it more and more and that he liked what he felt. So we invited him to baptism. He said yes.

• we ate much with the bishops family! Jolín. It was awesome. They live in the campo so they actually have A HOUSE AND A YARD and A POOL.  That doesn't happen.. like 2ever. But It felt so... American.. to be there haha. They made us paella stuffed full with the entire Atlantic Ocean. It had clams, scallops, huge shrimps, little shrimps, muscles, squid, crab, and I'm sure other little creatures. It was amazing. The shrimps still had their heads and little beady eyes so we just went to town de-shelling everything🦐. It was awesome. And then we ate some little Ecuadorian fruits that they grew in their garden which they insisted could only be found in their garden in all of the South of Spain. It was so fun! We were able to talk to bishop about some of our investigators and he's just a nice guy.

• *update on the man and daughter from English class who were gonna bring me chocolate*:  they came in clutch and brought me not one, but two bars of chocolate. #win.
After English class this woman named Amparo came to participate in the English class. We told her that we just finished and she looked so so sad. So we decided we could stay a little longer and help her with some English. So glad we did because this woman was COOL. She has 15 siblings all from the same mother which is just crazy. And then she went on to tell us that her mother is a maquina (machine). She's right. We just laughed so hard with her she was so funny. And she wants to learn more about Joseph Smith!

•We went by one of our other friends from Africa to try to teach him but we just did not think he was gonna show up, but soon enough he came down and we taught him the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the middle of the sidewalk at 10 pm. Not sketch, just super spiritual. Chemoko for the win.

• GENERAL CONFERENCE. 💃💃💃 we finally got to watch the women's conference and good grief general woman's conference is my jam. It was so lovely. I loved the trending subject or love of God, self love, and showing love towards others. So much love. I loved Elder Christoffersons talk, I'm excited to make the sacrament more unique to me. I loved President Nelson's talk and ELDER ZWICKS! AND President Eyring. I just loved it all! Can't wait to read em.

• one of our ward missionaries, Rosario, told us that she really wants to help out the work so she is trying to make some friends so that she can share the Gospel with friends haha. Bless her soul.

Everyone be like Rosario and go and make some friend's if that's what it takes to share the Gospel.

Paeeelllaaaaa
